Introduction
I traveled in Thailand from the 4th of April 2006 to the 14th of August 2006 which is four and a half months including a big part for diving.
This is the fifth stop of my Asian trip 2005/2006 which include in chronological order India, Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia.
This trip actually ended in Thailand.
I visited in chronological order the following places: Koh Lanta, Koh Phi Phi, Phuket, Koh Tao, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Bangkok, Ayuthaya, Lopburi, Sukhothaï, Chiang Mai, Pai, Phang Ma Pha et Mae Hong Son.
If you stay a few months you will appreciate the visa run companies which allows you to get a new visa very quickly!
About accommodation I paid between 4500 B a month (150 B a day) for a hut with bathroom in Koh Tao to 500 B for a little bungalow in Koh Phi Phi (Koh Phi Phi is expensive!).
A basic meal cost between 40 and 60 B. You can find great pizzas for 150 B in some places!
In total I spent 2378 euros in four and a half months which is 18 euros a day and which is a bit more than what I planned (15 euros a day). This total doesn't include diving courses, books and equipment as well as orchids I bought (total 167 euros).
Actually a huge part of my budget went into parties with dive buddies. Even considering alcohol is cheap in Thailand, you spend quickly a lot! Parties start early and finish in the next morning!
With paradise-like islands in South, breathtaking landscapes in North-West with mountains and rivers, its capital Bangkok still very surprising with many faces and its center which possess the heart of history of the country, you simply can not get bored!
This is also where I met Yumi who I meet back in her country (Japan) during my next trip so be sure I enjoyed Thailand!
